Occasionally the Bureau makes it on to the radio and the print media covering the Cold War, US foreign policy, Dutch foreign policy, and anything in between…..here is the record so far:

2011: Western Populism - where do the North Americans and Europeans agree, and where do they differ? An article in Trouw, 21-5-2011. For while the link lasts to the article on Trouw‘s site, try here.

2011: The IVLP (again) – this time an interview for Intermediair, the Dutch weekly for mid-career professionals. A good balanced insight from a Dutch perspective.

2011: The International Visitor Leadership Program – An interview on the IVLP for the BBC’s online news magazine on 29 March, which also generated an interview on BBC Wales a day later. The IVLP is a great piece of public diplomacy that rarely gets much attention beyond either the well-meaning generalisation or the conspiracy assumption. A mistake. 2011: Reagan and the Netherlands- a piece (in Dutch) on bilateral relations in the 1980s, together with Ruud van Dijk, for the Elsevier special issue on Ronald Reagan. Those were the days….

2010: US Soft Power and Central Europe in the Cold War - an interview for Danish radio that was broadcast in November, covering Radio Free Europe and US efforts to undermine the communist regimes. I now have the unedited audio files available here GilesNY1 and here GilesNY2 (failed to mention the Helsinki Accords – oops!).

2010: The CIA and LSD - an interview I gave on Radio 1 (in Dutch!) discussing the claim that the CIA secretly dosed a French village with LSD in 1951.
